Visualization In All Its Splendor
I've always had a passion for visualization; extracting knowledge, wisdom, information, and the occasional truth from data by taking it out of the realm of abstract numbers and text and static images and displays and making it compelling, visual, and animated or interactive. I have applied that passion in many ways, most recently in my work at Vizme.
Below is my Vizme Token collection, a way to visualize and browse my interests.
I am the Chief Technical & Creative Officer at Vizme where acting as the designer and
co-developer of the Vizme platform. I also work in the computer graphics industry doing
scientific visualization consultant work for various clients including museums and
production studios.
When I'm not working on Vizme (doesn't seem like that happens very often these days),
I like to hike, sail, and travel. My visualization interests also extend to the purely
aesthetic and I often kick back and create CG art.
I received a Ph.D. in Physics in 2011 with a dissertation in the field of computational
plasma astrophysics. That work focused on large-scale parallel computation using a hybdrid
CPU-GPU software I developed in collaboration with my peers to study extreme astrophysical
systems, e.g. highly-turbulent, shock waves. My dissertation work focused on application of
the software I developed to the study of instabilities in the accretion of matter onto
magnetic stars.
